Beth over at Red Yarn is hosting a Kokeshi Gallery Show this week. A few weeks back she invited people to send her photos of handmade, painted, crafted kokeshi (you know the cute Japanese dolls) and she would host a gallery on her blog for a week. Well it started today and my little felted kokeshi, Azmai, is there. Go check out all the cute kokeshi!
I needle felted the head and body of my kokeshi, and added hair also using needle felting, embroidered her face, made her a kimono and obi from the beautiful wool felt I received from Beth, named her Azami (Japanese for thistle flower - and she is a Scottish Kokeshi after all) and then photographed her and sent the pictures to Beth. I think I will be making another soon!
