WANDERINGS
This weekend I wandered between the fishing villages of Anstruther and Pittenweem along the Fife Coastal Pathway in the East Neuk of Fife. Anstruther is home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum, the award winning Anstruther Fish Bar and the ferry to the fabulous Isle of May where you can see a host of birdlife and wildlife, including the comical puffins with their brightly coloured beaks and their tiny wings flapping madly to keep them in the air, who nest in burrows under the ground along with cormorants, guillemots and razorbills. The last time I went to the Isle of May not only did we see thousands of puffins but we also saw a minke whale - nothing more majestic than the body of a whale rising and falling as it makes its way through the waves.
Along the coast to Pittenweem, the water was sparkling silver in the sunlight and the beaches white and we avoided the low flying golf balls!!
On Sunday I went to visit friends who recently moved to Stonehaven on the north east of Scotland about 15 miles south of Aberdeen. On the coast with a beach and the only art deco outdoor swimming pool in the UK. Now bearing in mind the average summer temperature in Stonehaven is probably about 18/64 degrees then it proves to you that us Scottish people are a hardy lot! Stonehaven is a quaint town with nice walks and great fish and chips. On the cliffs nearby is the amazing ,Dunottar Castle perched high on a cliff surrounded by water on 3 sides, seabirds nesting on the cliffs and the blue water sparkling.
WOOLLIE
Today was a public holiday here in Scotland - a lovely extra day off work - much needed relaxation. After my morning run (haha that makes it sound like I do that everyday) I decided it was time to sort out my stash - recent posts have made reference to its ever growing bulk and attempts to take over my home. Today was the day that I was going to put it back into order. I emptied all my boxes of yarn all over the floor - why oh why did I think that was a good idea - and then stared at it and contemplated and procrastinated before finally managing to put it all away. Not before taking note of the 8kg of yarn still in balls with ball bands, and the copious quantities of leftover yarn, the 32 pairs of knitting needles - are there really 32 different sizes of straight needles I ask myself???
It did lead to the horrifying discovery of a range of UFOs. I even have some unfinished objects that are so old I can't remember what they are supposed to be - but those that I can remember include, a cushion, a hat, 2 bags, 3 socks, a camel, 2 dinosaurs, an elephant, a pirate, a baby jumper, a baby cardigan and a unicorn!! Time to try to complete some of them me thinks!

I've got a lot of those, too...with fabric & paintings, though. That's a massive amount of yarn! Also, loving your sheep and cupcake stuffies!
I love sorting my stash - you feel kind of organised even if it is for a day.
Love reading about your little trips and seeing the pictures - I feel like I'm gettin to do some travel even thought I'm stuck here.
I love the views of stonehaven - beautiful and i love ruined (and unruined) castles!!!
Could luck with completeing the socks and dinosaurs!!!
I actually threw away a few of my knitted UFO's when we moved. I can't remember what it was so it must be a good sign. Nothing I really needed anyway...
And I tagged you at my blog!
What a beautiful swimming pool...a little too brisk temperature wise for me to be swimming though ( I am not Scottish!). However I would love to join you for a run...as for that wool stash...so happy to see that someone else has as much wool hidden away as me ( not to mention those UFO's although I can't lay claim to anything as exotic as a unicorn...)
Oh, and I forgot to mention that you've been tagged!....
Hello Di .Thanks for wishing me luck!
I love pittenweem and try to get there at least once a year...usually for the arts festival.Thought I'd let you know that I've tagged you for the 7 random facts meme and I've just spotted that Kajsa has too!

Hi Di, what a menagerie you have waiting for you! Sometimes it is fun to find old wip's and get reacquainted with them, and sometimes it brings back old memories of why you hid it from sight in the first place:) I'm sure it was like looking at a photo album while you sorted through your stash.
thanks for liking my eye candy too.
Good luck with the UFOs... and I'll just assume that of COURSE you got right down on the floor and rolled in it all before putting it away... because I would.
Thanks so much for your advice on my Paris blog, I'm still crazy-excited... it's a good thing we're leaving tonight, because I just don't think we can sustain this level of excitement much longer.
I had a good laugh at your UFO pile, I can certainly relate! And congrats to your friend and her new baby! Spring is a good time to have a baby I'd say!
