Baby Blankie - Little Red Riding Hood

I have been dreaming up new ideas for baby blankets recently, finding coloured pre-felt must have opened doors in my mind, the orange making me think of goldfish, the red, Little Red Riding Hood.....the blankies are sometimes designed on paper (with my poor drawing skills you may be hard pushed to tell what I was aiming for) or sometimes just come to life as I am working.  With this blankie, I knew I wanted Little Red Riding Hood (inspiration abounding in Japanese craft books I found and my favourite Converse shoes) but I wasn't sure what else to include. The wolf was kind of obvious, but the trees and the apples and the little roses entwined round her feet, just came to life as I went along....I have 3 commissions for blankies at the moment and I think the next one will have a Three Little Pigs Theme.

Here's the whole blankie:

I also got a great addition to the blankies whilst I was over at Twist Fibre Craft, they tracked down some little squeakers for me to use on the blankies! Soon they'll be even more interactive for little hands!

I absolutely love this blankie! My friend Amy used to make "imagination" mats for her kids just like that.

I like how the blankies are organically shaped and not the typical geometric. Thanks for the sweet comments on my blog and for visiting!
