Woollie Benefit

You may or may not have seen news of a tragic accident out there in Blogland. I just discovered it whilst browsing blogs 10 days ago or so. Stephanie of NieNie Dialogues and her husband Christian were involved in a light airplane crash in Arizona and are now in hospital receiving treatment for serious burns, this treatment could last months and with 4 young children....out there in blogland some serious help is going on.....

Her sister Jane keeps updates on her website and there are lots of auctions and sales going on to raise money to support both Stephanie and Christian's medical treatment and to support the 4 children. A specific website has been set up - NieNie Recovery - where you can find out about all the fund-raising. It is truly amazing to see the support out there - Design Mom has a list of 165 auctions that have been going on.

I have decided to take part in an online Etsy sale being organised by Morgan over at One More Moore. She will host the sale at her Etsy store on the 23rd and 24th of September. There will be some amazing things on offer and I have offered up one of my little felt, hand embroidered baby blankets. I am just not sure how much I should charge - I was thinking $30 - does that seem too much? I want it to sell but not to undersell if you get my drift.

The blankies are made with lambswool pre-felt, felted in the washing machine, hand embroidered using DMC threads, with a handle, some tags, lift up flaps....revealing a small nest in the tree and a worm in the apple. They are soft and cuddly, a perfect small comforter for a child - approximately 25cm x 30cm.

Oh Di, I think they're worth more than that. All your hard work and that beautiful hand-stitching?

I know it's really hard to put a price on "home-made" goods, but your little blankies are unique and will be treasured for years!

Good luck with the fundraising for such a good cause.

Double it or even triple it!

I think it's too low too! Your beautiful work is certainly worth more!
Good luck with the fundraising! It's a really horrible story, but at the same time also very heartwarming because of all the help sterming up from around.

your work is amazing, and i bed some new mom - or someone buying a gift for a new set of parents - would love something as adorable as this for their baby - and they'll pay even more if its for a good cause!

Oh wow, Di- your best blankie yet. $30 is nowhere near enough. I would say $50 absolute minimum but you could easily sell it for $80, especially as it's unique and for such a worthy cause. Have a look on Etsy to see how much similar things go for. I know I've said it before, but you really should open up an Etsy blanket shop, they'd be so popular as there really isn't anything like them anywhere else.
Good luck with the sale!

Definitely at least double it, Di. Cos I think just the handiwork alone is more than that.

Its a good thing you're doing. If we weren't mid-move I'd be joining right along with you. *prayers* lifted up to them, and a bit thank you from one blogger to another, for reaching out as you are. Bravo~

It's so nice to see the blog world helping a friend. I think you can ask more for these blankets.

Those are the most beautiful blankies, I think you can get more for them. I keep up with how the Nielsens are doing as well. What a tragedy...really makes you want to appreciate all the moments rather than always thinking about what will happen next.

Your wool blankies are so terrific, mine still gets a lot of lovin'! And thanks for the comment on my blog- I can't believe you met locals from my little town on your wanderings! I went to school with Noelle, we were best buds in junior high! crazy small world.

Hi,
I missed out on the auction but would love one of your blankies for my little girl! Do you make a 10cm by 10cm blankie with maybe one tree and a bird or two that I could buy? It would be the perfect size for taking everywhere and I could even attach it to the stroller so it doesn't get lost! I love it!
Jen :)
