Woollie Weekend

Another weekend came and went in a flash! Why can't the working week pass so quickly??

I went to see the movie Persepolis on Friday evening. It's based on a graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi, which focuses on the coming of age of a young Iranian girl during the Islamic revolution. It is an interesting and touching film and the animation is amazing - very basic but effective.

Saturday I went to The Hermitage, a National Trust property just north of Dunkeld where we were working in the car park and forest. The Hermitage has some beautiful walks passing hillsides covered in bluebells and wood sorrel and some of the tallest trees in the UK, Douglas Firs (212 ft/64.5m - they are really tall - couldn't fit them all in a photo), Ossian's Hall, a Victorian folly overlooking the Black Linn Falls. We spent the afternoon cutting down and digging up small sycamore trees, a non-native species that takes over if not removed - it was hot and sweaty work!! Hmm, shower called when I got home!

On Sunday we had a barbecue my friend's Isabel and Victor's house as it was their daughter, Beatriz', first birthday. We were lucky with the weather, no rain and just warm enough to spend the afternoon outside. The chocolate cake was fab and the birthday girl enjoyed it the most, though how much she ate and how much she smeared all over her face it was difficult to tell!

I also managed a little crafting last week - yes a return to crafting appearing on my craft neglected blog. I finished the little blankie for Tine's soon to be baby. I like how it turned out - the blanket is covered in small flowers, bees and ladybugs!

I also made a needle felt ball, covered it in felt clover leaves and an embroidered ladybird - inspired by a Japanese craft book I saw on Etsy.

Your little blanket turned out so cute! And so is the ball! The movie looks very interesting. I don't know if it's out here to see, but I will watch for it. I think it would be great to do animation like that for a meaningful movie. You always keep so busy during the weekends! Hopefully your work week will be more restful! ;)

sounds like a wonderful weekend, Di!
I would have liked to join you out there in nature, but since we did some wandering ourselves it's a bit like being "connected" through nature!
It has already been rather hot over here!!

oh...you went to see the film. We have the book and we both (husband and I) really liked it. Should we see the film or is it going to be too much? I love that your weekends are always full of nice activities. Take care xox
