This weekend I was busy in the house making sure my workers/friends were keeping busy. My sweatshop opened on Sunday afternoon for the construction of a number of Christmas presents and because I am not very good with a sewing machine I had to draft in some (un)willing workers to make sure the job got completed! I was paying 5p an hour and when one of the workers asked for a toilet break I had to take 3p off her wages!!
The sweatshop worked well for me and I think my workers were happy even with the poor working conditions! The shop may have to open again before Christmas!
I promise I did give them a nice lunch, took Andrea to the cinema etc. I didn't really make them work for peanuts - lentil soup was just as good!!

You're hilarious, I love it! mhhh, I bet the soup was deliscious ;) Your workers look very happy and I am sure you guys had a wonderful time :) Next time, throw a few Jaffa cakes in, I'm sure they will do the trick for some extra motivation, hahaha
He he he - you have me smiling very widely right now... I'm thinking about drafting my sister to help with finishing a lot of things... (I bet I can get her to work for peanuts, she loves them!)

Glad to see a set of poinsettia bits there too Di! I had a quick count up of the flowers so far yesterday and The Big Felt (TM) is nearly upon us, so hopefully we'll have it all done v soon. Kirsty and I have resolved to do a little bit of present knitting in every coffee break from today, so I've installed a little bag of portable WIPs in my desk drawer, dangerous!! :)
I do volunteer for the next sweatshop. You can give the 5p per hour to the charity but I want the soup !

I am a self-taught sewer, so I might have to put together my own sweat shop someday!!!

That's really funny! Where do you find these workers. I need to hire some of my own elves this holiday season. Particularly ones who know how to knit fingerless gloves.
