WOOLLIE & WANDERINGS
Woollie first! My little surprise package (WIP 1) is on its way to it's new owner! It's wrapped in some net with some ribbon that I bought in Norway - a traditional Norwegian design! I hope it makes it through postal strikes to its destination!
My latest WIP (3) - a little teaser..... I am enjoying this embroidery business and will reveal what it is I have been making once my parcel arrives.
Wanderings today took me to one of my favourite summer places - there is something about picking berries that is relaxing and therapeutic - don't get me wrong - I wouldn't like to do it for a living but it's a great way to pass an afternoon and I really enjoy eating the "fruits of my labour":
We picked redcurrants and raspberries - my friend is making jam, jelly and cordial - I am not nearly so talented - mine will be going in the freezer to make muffins and to fill my porridge during the winter - can't stand the stuff unless it has berries in it - but apparently oats are good for lowering cholestoral and are a slow release food which keep you fuller for longer so I have to try to eat it!

gorgeous photos di, we are really enjoying your blog
Every year the Mister and I pick raspberries and freeze them but when we pull them out in the dead of winter they are all mushy and don't taste very good. I think it has something to do with our freezer. So I have decided this summer we are just going to eat them all now - mostly on my morning porridge.

your berry picking sounds wonderful!!
I find picking berries relaxing too. Time to think, time to feel that you are close to nature and then the beauty of having a taste of summer long after it has passed.
Your surprise package and embroidery look wonderful! I just discovered wild berries growing on an abandoned site behind my office, perhaps I'll pick some to try :)
Ooh, more of that embroidery on that lovely felt! And the berries- yum! We are just starting berry season here and my babe is learning how to devour them. Toddlers with berry mustaches are pretty cute!
Raspberries, Yum! So much better than strawberries yet so often overlooked! The frozen ones work brilliantly in smoothies (makes it nice and cold too), as cake fillings, or mixed in to brownies/cheesecakes etc. And it doesn't really matter if they're squishy for those things either. Porridge is yummy Diane, and mandatory for Scots! Good idea with the berries on it for summer. I like chopped dates and brown sugar with mine, although I still have yet to join the hard core porridge-with-salt brigade.
I guess porridge is Brittish for the American oatmeal? We have that every morning - with concentrated applejuice and soyamilk. Tasty! But nothing beats fresh berries!
i love that huge strawberry! wish we had some place like that near me.
