WOOLLIE

This weekend was friends and baby filled! The baby I have been knitting for constantly for the last 6 months arrived on Monday morning - a little girl - as expected - all well!! I spent the weekend with friends visiting from England to see the baby and her parents and other more local friends. But I did manage some knitting as well - there was knitting group at our Favourite shop in Newburgh and I finished my Owl.

Otto the Owl from Lucinda Guy's "And so to Bed".

Here's what he looked like pre-construction

and post construction:

WANDERINGS

I didn't really wander anywhere this weekend apart from knitting shop, lunch, shopping in town and to visit a baby!! But baby visiting was great, I got to hold her for over 2 hours - sheer bliss!!

However, I did find a great quote on the back of the menu in which made me laugh so much and I wanted to share with you and it also seemed apt since so many of you were celebrating mother's day yesterday. Hope you find it funny too!! Courtesy of American journalist and writer Calvin Trillin

"The most remarkable thing about my mother is that for 30 years she served the family nothing but leftovers. The original meal has never been found."

I promise there will be some exciting wanderings soon!!

UPDATE

I finally finished Otto the Owl's scarf last night - it's amazing how long it takes to knit 60cm of rows with only 11 stitches - all that turning the needles around! Here he is in all his glory.....

He's great! I love his scarf. That's a brilliant quote - reminds me of my mum although I think most of our leftovers actually stemmed from a sunday roast each week but boy did she manage to stretch that out through the week! Whatever happened to bubble and squeak?
