WOOLLIE

I hosted a Baby Shower - first time ever! These are certainly not popular in the UK, but it was fun to get all the girls together to help Isabel celebrate the soon to be born Baby FO. Her biggest unfinished object to date!!

Thanks to all my friends, there was an over-abundance of amazing food.... I made chocolate orange cake (How to be a Domestic Goddess), sticky sausages (mini sausages cooked in soy sauce, honey and sesame seeds and so addictive) and cheese and onion pies (also making me a Domestic Goddess). Andrea brought cherry crumble, Katy a gorgeous tomato tart and cranberry scones, Laurence made fresh crepes (what better than a french girl making crepes in your kitchen)....

There were 10 of us altogether and the crafty ones amongst us had made many a knitted gift.....The washing line was groaning under the weight....and the ever talented Andrea had made a host of paper roses!!

We ran a sweepstake to guess the weight of the baby and the day she would be born, the weights ranged from 3200g to 4800g (almost 11lb) and the dates from the 13th of April to the 30th! She is due on the 26th and most people thought she would be early!!!

All in all a successful afternoon of girlie chatter and joy at the latest addition!!

You sound like a VERY Domestic Goddess! I've made the choc/orange cake also. Somehow, it just doesn't taste like my mum's...

Looks like a very sweet event. baby showers are not big in my part of the world either, but I think there is something special about welcoming a baby and making a mama-to-be feel pampered and loved. I missed out though, my babe was born 2 days before my shower date! Those are some yummy looking treats!
