Where does time go?

I can't believe it's been about 2 weeks since my last post! Excuses - many......quality excuses....none.

I've been home visiting family (my aunt was visiting from the States and it was lovely to see her after 2 years or more) and friends. Had a great meal at a restaurant called Pickled Green on Rose Street in Edinburgh last Saturday - great food - pigeon, coley and banana creme brulee....all delicious....and at £19 for a 3 course meal good value too!

This weekend I was in Dundee - pub tea - favourite gourmet burger from Drouthy Neebors on Friday night. Knitting group at Twist Fibre Craft in Newburgh on Saturday morning, with a visit to the Wee Bakery for fresh bread and to Kit & Caboodle, a new shop on Newburgh High Street selling an eclectic mix of new, retro, handmade.....another great addition to a visit to Newburgh.

Lunch followed at the great Pillars of Hercules - an organic farm and cafe just outside the village of Falkland (worth a visit if you've been to see the beautiful Falkland Palace - the medieval Royal Palace of James IV) - we had to sit outside under the canopy as it was so busy - usually in July you wouldn't think that would be a problem, but this is July in Scotland and yesterday it was about 15 degrees and most of the day was what we would call dreich - grey, damp, raining, misty, foggy......

I felted some pre-felt today that I bought at Twist yesterday - couldn't resist the colours....a rainbow of felt..

Oh and some packing has been going on......I've bought a flat...I get the keys next Friday....then the work will begin!

Oh - and I'm going to Venice in September with my friends Ali and Karen - we've rented an apartment for 4 nights - you can see it here - Ca' Colombina....it has a roof terrace "altana" with views over La Fenice, the Campanile in St Mark's Square and the canal below....it looks amazing and I can't wait. I've been wanting to go to Venice for so long now! It's so close to the action, minutes from St Mark's Square and the Grand Canal!

Time flies during summer and I think that spending time with family and friends is a quality excuse as good as any other excuse.

I think we're all excited about your new home!!! I can't wait to see pictures!! And it sounds like you've been very busy! Pigeon? Really??? This is where the distance is obvious. I've never had pigeon. You are going to have so much fun... yes, I'm very jealous, but in a good way because I know you'll post lots of photos and descriptions so I can continue to live vicariously through you! ;)

Congratulations on the flat! Good luck with the work. I guess you're not heading further north this summer, maybe next year? Enjoy the rest of the summer, I wish our vacation lasted longer.
