Spring has Sprung - A Small Break from Orkney

After the coldest and snowiest winter for many a year we have waited a long time for spring....everything was late in flowering, but the blossom and the daffodils have been spectacular over the last couple of weeks. I can't understand why we don't, like the Japanese, celebrate the coming for spring with the arrival of the cherry blossom (perhaps it's because it's still so damn cold!)

wonderful, aren't they?

over here, they'd already blossomed some time ago but the sudden cold wave put everything back in a sort of dormant state + the heavy winds tore every blossom of the trees. the bastards.

Gorgeous!

Your package arrived (finally! Curse that volcano!) and the blankie is so adorable. Sophie loves the little mousie, too. You are so sweet. I will blog with pictures soon, but I'm working all weekend. Thanks again for such beautiful gifts for my kids!

The blossoms are gorgeous!! I think I missed the cherry blossoms in D.C. this year. We've gone down to see them before and I think there's even a parade... it is a big deal there.
