Not much woollie going on...

Not much woollie being going on lately. Sparse posts I know...sorry.....

Spent last Saturday with the National Trust at Killiecrankie tidying up around the visitor centre, clearing fallen trees........can you see the tree I chopped down.......

OK I didn't really chop that tree down - spent most of the day filling in holes in footpaths and shifting a pile of gravel about 3 metres. Some of the others were building new bird boxes, hedgehog boxes and ladybird and bumble bee houses.......painting blocks of wood for kids to play with, fixing the signs on the geology box....it was a fun day out in glorious sunshine. Killiecrankie is a beautiful place to take a walk along the River Tay, steep sided gorge covered in trees in northern Perthshire.

I spent Sunday with my parents and after lunch at the garden centre, to feed my mum's plant buying habit, my mum and I looked for my old Clothkits clothes that she made for me as a child. We found 2 or 3 waistcoats...my favourite one is pictured below (aged about 7 to 8)....I loved this jerkin. Clothkits was a company that sold pre-printed kits to make clothes and a lot of ready made clothes - new catalogues a couple of times a year and many of my clothes as a child were made by my mum from kits. I made my first ever toy from left over remnants of the fake furry lining (and I still have it) - a little round ball with yellow felt eyes and mouth...

Clothkits was resurrected a couple of years ago and now you can buy some great clothes for adults and kids in kit form.....I have a skirt whose pattern is designed by Rob Ryan and am eyeing up a few others....

We also found the dolls bed clothes that she made for my dolls bunk beds - the flowery patterns on the duvets were made from my grandma's kitchen curtains......I love that they were repurposed.

You're so cute -- you look like Paul Bunyan with that chopped down tree! It looks like you always have such a wonderful time on all of your clean-up jobs!

That's so cool that your mom still had some of the clothes she made for you! And I didn't remember that you made that Rob Ryan skirt too! We could be twins!!! I wonder if you know how great you are... putting in all that time to make the parks more beautiful? I think that's so wonderful!!
