Woollie Mittens

I have been knitting mittens.....amazingly I have been knitting......and it's my first mitten. I am tackling Brella's Totoro mittens, a free pattern over on Ravelry. I have a colleague who loves Studio Ghibli and all their animations, such as My Neighbour Totoro, the fantastic Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, that gave me the perfect excuse to knit the pattern. I am not alone in knitting the mittens...you can find a finished pair over on Lille-ursus' blog, whilst I only have one finished so far....

I had to knit the mitten twice as my intarsia was too tight and consequently the mitten was too small.....I also knitted the thumb plain as opposed to patterned so someone could actually get their thumb in it....

Now I am on mitten number 2!

Very pretty Di! I've never done intarsia, but I'm a fairly tight knitter, so I'd probably have problems too!

My neighbour Totoro is a hit in this house, but I didn't know it was a pattern for mittens! Good luck with them.

I really admire anyone who can do this. I have always wanted to learn. I wish my grandmother was still alive to teach me. She lived to be 100, but I never took the time to learn from her. Beautiful.

Impressive! That's a pretty complicated knitting pattern.
