Winter Wonderland

We have been having very wintery weather this past week....last weekend we had freezing fog on Friday and Saturday and a beautiful Jack Frost winter wonderland on Sunday.

I was in Edinburgh with friends on Friday to go to the Christmas Market (2 of the friends were German, one Dutch and the other Costa Rican) as the continentals wanted to visit the German market to sample the gluwhein, mead and feuerzange bole and savour the atmosphere. It was a foggy winter wonderland in Edinburgh, that is for certain, but with a little warm gluwhein to raise the spirits it was lovely to watch the activity on the ferris wheel (scary), ice rink, helter skelter....a magical wintery experience for kids.

On Sunday I took the train back to Dundee (long story, car related problems luckily solved) and travelled through the Perthshire countryside, transformed into an amazing natural winter wonderland....the trees and plants covered in ice, the sky blue and the weather frosty...

Sorry they are not the best photos but they were taken from a moving train...

The cold clear weather did lead to a fantastic sunset....all the colours of winter were certainly on display last weekend!
