Woollie Weekend
Well the weekend is almost over, but not for me! It's the Dundee Fair holiday week so we have 2 days of public holidays!! Yippee!! My weekend won't end until Wednesday.
I had a good day yesterday, my friend Andrea and I went to our favourite yarn store over in Newburgh, Twist Fibre Craft. We had tea, browsed in the shop and chatted with Laura and Peter the owners. I left with some yarn to make the baby matinee jacket for the Ravelympics, some pre-felt to make more baby blankets (I've washed it already and it's come out a little weird - perhaps I will use all the strange shapes and bumps to add to blankets), needles to make a sweater from Last Minute Knitted Gifts (it's the little orange one in the picture - another baby gift) and the latest edition of Selvedge Magazine.
Afterwards we grabbed a sandwich and headed over to Cairnie Farm to meet Ally, Mick and baby Kelvin to do some berry picking and to eat cake! The sun even managed to break through the sea haar and it was warm! Of course, all good things n' that......on the way home the car decided to have a nervous breakdown and I spent 3 hours on the forecourt of a petrol station waiting for the breakdown service, only to have the breakdown man push the car to start it. However, that is not the end of the problem, the starter motor has burnt out, so whilst I at least got the car home I will have to take it to the garage this week for surgery, probably expensive surgery!
Without a car today my plans changed a little! No hiking for me, but a day at home instead. Every cloud has a silver lining! I cleaned house, weeded in the garden (in the 2 hours between the sea haar rolling out and rolling back in again), went for a run and managed a little crafting! It's been a long time coming!
I knitted a little stripey hat for a friend's baby and have started a scarf for myself (funny that on what was supposed to be one of the warmest days of the year, if it hadn't been for the sea haar, I started to knit a scarf.) It's from Berroco's Norah Gaughan Collection Volume 1 and is called "Jyri" and is a mountain pattern.
I also got some great gifts this week! Thank you Tine for the great parcel, I promise that yours will be on its way to you soon! Another great Jonathon and Emma picture, a beautiful card made with yarn and a small watercolour and a cute little wall hanging.
Ally also gave me a cute pincushion from Tait and Style, they make the most amazing knitted items from scarfs, to cushions and Ally visited their studios when she was on holiday in Orkney recently.

Wow, you've been very busy, as usual! The hat is very cute.
I hope your car will recover soon!
See you on Wednesday.

I'm sorry you had bad luck with the car!! I hope that isn't too much of a problem to solve. I love your little baby hat and all those cute little gifts are enough to cheer anyone up! I am going to check out your link on your previous post about the Olympics' monkey! Hang in there... and I'm happy to see you knitting again!

Sorry to hear about your car trouble :(
The rest of your days sound great though!
LOVE the baby hat! My sister is having her first child this fall--I'd love to make something similar. Hope your car will be ok! Happy Days ((HUGS))
