Woollie Olympics

The Olympics are almost upon us - 13 days to go! I love the festival of non-stop sport that the Olympics means - but not the fact that most of the events will happen at odd hours of the day and night here in the UK.

What would the Olympics be without knitting......if you are a Ravelry member you can sign up for the Ravelympics! I am participating on behalf of "Team Scots Can do it Too" in the "Baby Dressage event", casting on my Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino Garter Stitch Matinee Jacket during the Opening Ceremony and cast off before the end of the Closing Ceremony.  So many pregnant friends, so little time......

There are a whole host of events - The Itsy Bitsy Bikini Breaststroke,  Sock Put, Shawl Relay, Afghan Marathon etc.etc.

Or you could check out the amazing BBC Sport's Olympic Monkey! The little animated film is based on a classic Chinese novel called "Journey to the West" will be shown on BBC TV (radio, web) from now until the end of the Olympics. It was created by Damon Albarn (Blur) and Jamie Hewit, the men behind the cult band Gorillaz. It really is cool with the character based on the 1970s TV series Monkey!
