Woollie Wanderings - Lunan Bay & Auchmithie

Walking on the Angus coast this weekend was a delight. A trip to the beach always is good for the soul, the sound of the waves lapping on the shore, the oyster catchers screeching and the pebbles underfoot, the tone changing dependent on the size of the pebbles.

Lunan Bay is a horseshoe shaped beach backed by high sand-dunes and is always a pleasure to walk along, the tide chasing you along.

After Lunan Bay we headed to Auchmithie, a small fishing village, perched high on the cliffs above it's old harbour and pebbled beach. The red sandstone cliffs are full of conglomerate pebbles of all varieties - a real geologist's dream! Look at the line of quartz running through the sandstone like a river........ the paint flaking boats.......... the sandstone arch.......

We were also lucky enough to see dolphins frolicking in the bay!

Your photos make me want to paint!!! Such great colors. I didn't know you had dolphins around there. I always think of them as being in warmer waters.

Hmm...I have a feeling I've just posted to somebody else's blog what I meant to post here. There are too many little windows! Here is is again...

Frolicking dolphins!! The Angus coast looks beautiful. Your baby blanket is beautiful, too. I especially like the little igloo. You should really start selling your blankets, they're so unique :D

Since I don't have your direct e-mail, I will use your "comment section" because I wanted to answer the message the that you left on my blog. Instant gratification rocks ;) I also like small projects. A quick question: when you write a kiwi, do you mean the fruit or the bird? A big difference! I got my sweater pattern in a mini French book at a yarn store in Montreal. And thank you, I didn't know about Ravelry. I'm waiting to get my "invitation". Happy Easter and good chocolate!!! xox And yes, I made the belt. Super easy...instant gratification.

I still can't get used to beaches with pebbles instead of sand. Over here (Australia) we have white or golden sand – much nicer on your toes!

Lovely photos.
