WANDERINGS - ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK
I had the pleasure of wandering to Rocky Mountain National Park whilst on my travels but before leaving we went to the weekly Boulder Farmer's Market - what an amazing place!! We have a farmer's market here in Dundee but it is nothing compared to Boulder - the choice of produce, the freshness and organic nature of it all, men who can lift a bag of vegetables and tell you the weight, drinking the milk of a fresh coconut, eating coconut rice and fresh mango, all in the Colorado sunshine.
You may have noticed that I have this thing about taking photos of food - yet more evidence below....
After our market experience we headed off for Rocky Mountain National Park which is full of glorious landscapes - mountain peaks, sweeping vistas of yellowing aspens amongst green pines, flowing rivers filled with trout and jewel like lakes, wildlife and birds. We drove the Trail Ridge Road and stopped at every possible viewpoint to soak in the scenery and breath in fresh air, seeing arctic tundra, climbing to 2.3 miles high! (OK we drove to 2.2 miles high and climbed the last few hundred feet to the top of the world!)
I also saw a moose - we were stopped at the side of the road photographing an elk when a car drew up and told us that there was a moose in the pond just up the road which had to be more exciting than an elk! We jumped in the car and headed back to the pond and there she was - a beautiful mumma moose wading about in a small pond eating the juicy grass growing at the bottom - no drive by moose sighting for me this time - plenty of time to take photos and to enjoy the grace and majesty of this creature!
Sunday we drove back over Trail Ridge Road this time disappearing into the cloud before coming out again on the east side of the park and taking the shuttle bus to Bear Lake where we hiked to Nymph Lake and Dream Lake to marvel at their dark green waters, the majesty of the mountains surrounding them, before heading back to Boulder for some salsa dancing! Yes, me salsa dancing - never been my strong point but people were polite enough to not complain too much when I trod on their foot!!

Those fresh produce photos you took at the market are gorgeous. You should frame these and put it up on your kitchen wall. They're lovely!

I’m totally impressed by so many wonderful photos of nature. I especially love the clouds in the blue sky and the road thereunder. I should have it enlarged and printed on canvas.
Your photos are fantastic!!! I can't get over them. Your food photos remind me of some that a friend of mine took and framed, and are hanging in her kitchen. Thanks for sharing all your travel tales!!
