WOOLLIE AND WANDERINGS

Lets get away from the travellogue for now and let you know about some of my latest purchases crafty and otherwise - some of it in Paris and some in Scotland.

Before I left for Paris I finally made my first grown up furniture purchases which most of my friends will tell you is a miracle! I bought a sofa and then after seeing Habitat's beautiful rocking chair in Living Etc one of my all time favourite magazines I just knew I had to have it and when Living Etc, the following month, had a 20% discount voucher for Habitat it was too good to be true - an omen, a sign, that little wooden chair just had to be mine!

I have always wanted a rocking chair, but not your traditional style rocking chair, something a little more contemporary, so this one is ideal, oak frame and berry coloured felt cushion (which of course fits with the Woollie theme). It is perfect for my favourite cushion from Tait and Style which I have had for years but never went with any of my furniture!

Then when wandering in Paris I went to the ribbon store I had seen on my last visit which had been closed because it was a Sunday - Entree Des Fournisseurs - "mercerie, boutons, passemeterie, laine, broderie, perles, tissus" in a cute little courtyard just off Rue de Francs Bourgeois in the Marais district of Paris = one of the best places for small shops and wandering! I was in awe when I entered the shop, the vast array of buttons, ribbon and felt etc. I managed to just buy 2 colours of felt and 4 metres of ribbon - very restrained!

And in Woollie this week I have been knitting a bear - well I've been knitting it for weeks now - it's become my nemesis....

Habitat is just fab, I treated myself to a Sir Alfred leather armchair from there when I got a particularly good bonus once and I'm extremely fond of it.

you really can never have enough ribbon.

that is a very cheery rocking chair. it'll do nicely on a cold, rainy/snowy winter's day...oh, we won't talk about that now.

that cushion is perfect.
