More Woollie
I have been knitting a baby blanket for a friends' baby. She is due on the 25th of April - we are having a baby shower soon (it's not a very British thing to do but then this won't be a very British baby - mum is Costa Rican and dad is Mexican!) It has been a labour of love - it's an adaptation of a pattern from Lucinda Guy's book "And so to Bed". I started it at Christmas with the 4mm needles recommended and the one strand of yarn - cast on the 280 odd stitches required and knit about 90 rows before I decided I didn't like it very much and I had managed to move the pattern along one stitch to the right, so I ripped it all out and started again with 2 strands of yarn on 5.5mm needles - 30 rows later the blanket was more like cardboard than a blanket and so it was time to rip again.........onto the 6.5mm needles and finally I was happy. 200 rows x 140 stitches later and the blanket is finished.....let's hope my friend doesn't read my blog or the surprise might be spoiled! It's 92cm by 92cm and I think that it may crush the baby for the first few weeks.....
I'm now onto the next project - a pair of Last Minute Knitted Gift "denims" for baby 1 and a 1/2 legs done....

The blanket is lovely! I still mourn the fact that my cousins have been born too "early" aka before I learned to knit ;-)
